Dr Kavita loves the wide range of medicine in General Practice. Before becoming a GP, she was a Paediatric Trainee for 6 years with the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network in both city and regional hospitals including Neonatal Intensive Care at the RHW. She continues to have a focused interest in Paediatrics, Antenatal and Maternal Health. She has also completed a Diploma of Child Health with UNSW. She is a shared care provider with RNSH, RPAH, RHW, Concord, St George, Sutherland.
Dr Kavita is also an IBCLC - International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and member of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine. She is one of the first Australians to be undertaking a Breastfeeding Medicine Fellowship from the University of Rochester.
She is experienced a Neuroprotective Developmental Care (Possums) Practitioner and a Thompson Method Breastfeeding Practitioner. She is passionate about improving breastfeeding support, maternal mental health and education. Dr Kavita has over 10 years' experience in assessment and management of tongue tie (Ankyloglossia) from her time on the post-natal wards at RHW Randwick and in the community. She loves helping parents navigate the labyrinth of Infant medicine. Outside of medicine, she has a strong interest in the outdoors, martial arts, ancient literature and social justice.
